Today's we will continue reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 7:1-3, 6-16, 23-35, and 39-40 and Chapter 8.

Today we will read about some answers to questions that the Corinthians had written to Paul- should they marry or stay unmarried? Should they divorce their unbelieving spouses since they had come to faith in Jesus but their spouse had not? And lastly, was it okay to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols?

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Paul's advice not do things that we are free to do, such as eating food sacrificed to idols, if doing so would cause someone with weaker faith, who thought it was wrong, to sin. We will talk about how this is relevant in our own lives today with regard to continuing yesterday's teaching, where Paul told us that he and the other disciples felt they were on display, and so they were careful not to do things that would cause another believer to sin.

Today I will share my real life example of how God has been using yesterday's and today's reading and daily application in my life. I will share about the difficulty I have with my daughter at home and how I choose to imitate Paul by doing what I am teaching in our daily application and not taking action against my daughter in court so that the resolution I might have taken with her through the public courts would not potentially cause any other believer to sin.

Today's we will continue reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 3:1-7, 16-20, Chapter 4:6-14, 16-20, Chapter 5:1-3, 9-13, and Chapter 6: 1-7, 9-13, 15, 18-20

Today we will read about a list of many behaviors that Paul was concerned about occurring within the Corinthian community. Paul addressed the inappropriateness of bragging about spiritual gifts and explained why believers need to take disputes to other believers for resolution rather than to the courthouse where their dispute will be judged by a non believer. Paul explained that when we do this, nobody wins.

Paul spent a lot of time discussing sinning with the body and how this should be especially avoided because our bodies are the temple for God's Spirit; God's Spirit lives in each of us! God paid for our bodies with Jesus' blood, so our bodies do not belong to just us anymore! Therefore, we need to show God how great we think He is by the way we act with our bodies.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Paul's request to imitate him and how important it is for us to mind our behavior, imitating Jesus and other mature believers, so that we can provide good examples for people and do our best not to lead other people astray by providing examples of bad behavior for others to follow.

Today's we will begin reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 1:2, 5-7, 10-28, Chapter 2:1-2, 4-5, 7, 9-16, and Chapter 3:1-7, 16-20.

Today we will read about the Corinthians having difficulty getting along with one another because they were causing division among themselves by claiming they were followers of different teachers. Paul's letter explains that they (and we!) need to stay focused on unity with one another because we all share the same Holy Spirit, are all followers of Jesus, have the mind of Jesus, and are the temple for God's Spirit because God lives in each of us!

In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged to remember that we, like the Corinthians, need to remember not to get hung up on divisive names like being Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, Baptist, Lutheran, non denominational, etc. We need to remember that we all have the same foundation- Jesus! It is God who is important, not who we claim to follow, because we are all just servants for God!

We will also talk about how we have the mind of Jesus, which means our goals should be the same as Jesus' goals: make God the most important one in our lives, obey God, do the work God gave us to do to tell people about Jesus, and help people know how to follow Jesus.

Today's we will finish reading Paul's second letter to the 1 Thessalonians with Chapter 3. We will also complete Chapter 18 of Acts by reading vs 12-28 and Chapter 19, 1-22.

Today we will read about Paul's encouragement from God to continue speaking boldly because no one would hurt him and then see how God protected Paul, just like He said He would, when the local Roman ruler did not hear arguments against Paul when the worship house leaders took Paul and accused him of teaching against God. We will read about Paul's journeys and the many people who became followers of Jesus, as well as read about a Jewish man names Apollos, who being very educated in the scriptures, was able to effectively explain the scriptures to many people and show how Jesus was, in fact, the Messiah.

In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged to be like Apollos- be educated in the scriptures so that we are also able to effectively explain to others how Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah that God told us He would bring!

Today's we will finish reading Paul's first letter to the 1 Thessalonians with Chapter 5 and begin his 2nd letter to the Thessalonians, covering chapter 1 and 2.

Today we will continue to read about Paul's encouragement to the believers in Thessalonica in regard to their concern for Jesus' return. There was concern for the fact that Jesus had already returned and that they had somehow missed it! Paul will reassure the listener not to worry, when Jesus returns it will be at a time no one is expecting, like when a woman goes into labor for a child to be born, and no one will be able to miss it, because it will be a magnificent event that no one will be able to miss! Therefore, in today's reading, Paul will continue to encourage the believers to continue loving one another and continue in their faith, as they were already doing.

In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged by Paul today not to repay evil for evil to anyone, but instead, to be kind to everybody, always show our joy, pray, and be grateful to God for everything He does for us because these are things God wants us to do! Let us continue to let God's Holy Spirit work in us, not turning away from God, so that God will make our whole heart clean from any kind of sin.

Today's we will read the Book of Acts Chapter 18:5-11 and 1 Thessalonians Chapters 1 through 4.

Today we will read about Paul's gratitude for the faith of those living in Thessalonica and his encouragement to them to keep growing. Paul is greatly encouraged by the fact that other people speak so well of the Thessalonians' faith, imitation of Godly believers, and their love for both one another as well as all of those living in Macedonia. Lastly, we will read about Paul's encouragement to not be sad about people dying, as we will all be resurrected when Jesus returns- first those who are already dead and then those of us who are alive will join Jesus in the Rapture at His return.

In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged to also keep imitating Jesus and mature believers so that we can show others what Jesus looks like. Jesus taught us that the world will know we are His followers if we love one another. He also taught us that as we bear fruit God will prune us so that we bear even MORE fruit! So we are encouraged to keep growing and providing good examples of God's love to the world around us so that when others see us they may imitate us as well, rather than imitate bad behaviors. It is my prayer for you today that you continue to grow in loving others and imitating Jesus, just as Paul encouraged the Thessalonians to do in today's reading.

Today's we will read the Book of Acts Chapter 17 through Chapter 18:4.

Today we will read that once again God used the difficulty that Paul experienced to keep Paul on the move to different cities so he could tell more and more people about the Good News of Jesus. Today we will read about what happened when Paul got to Athens in Greece. Paul found that the people there were very religious and had idols set up for every false God they could think of, including an alter for an unknown God. Paul used this opportunity to enlighten the people there about the God they did not know, as well as Jesus! Paul told the people in Athens that Jesus would eventually judge the world for its sin and they should be sorry for doing wrong and accept Jesus forgiveness.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Jesus' eventual return to judge the world. God does not desire anyone to die but wants EVERYONE to come to Him. Jesus told us that although we do not know the time of his return it will be like a servant who is waiting for his master to return from a wedding party- the servant thinks that the master is taking a very long time and so he does not do what he is supposed to be doing, and then when the master returns unexpectedly the servant, not being found doing the work he was supposed to be doing, will not have things go well for him. We need to be sure we are doing the good work God has given us to do by telling people about Jesus. One day Jesus WILL come back and we want as many people as possible to be saved from the judgement that He will eventually bring onto the world. Right now we are in the time of experiencing Jesus' forgiveness of sins and peace, but eventually, when He returns, it will be to judge the world for not choosing to believe in Him.

Today's we will read the Book of Acts Chapter 15:36 through Chapter 16.

Today we will read that God gave Paul a vision to go to Macedonia to preach the Good News. While there he and Silas were accused of teaching things that were unlawful for Roman Citizens to do, which resulted in Paul and Silas being beaten and thrown into jail without a trial first. This led to the opportunity for Paul and Silas to witness to the jailer and his whole family, resulting in lives being saved for Jesus! Hallelujah!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God works good into absolutely EVERY circumstance to further His Kingdom! We will talk about how Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers and falsely accused, landing him in jail, which ultimately gave him the opportunity to be 2nd in charge of all of Egypt, saving his family from the famine! He later told his brothers, "What you intended for evil, God intended for good." I will also share my testimony about a recent event where God used an auto accident to bring good. We are encouraged, dear brothers and sisters, to always ask God to show us the good that He will work into every situation so that we might glorify Him and be His witnesses, thereby offering encouragement to even more people to have faith in God always and look to Him whenever we experience any kind of difficult situation.

Today's we will finish reading Paul's letter to the Galatians with Chapters 5 and 6.

Today Paul will explain to us that there are two parts within us who are fighting with each other- the sinful self and the Spirit of God. Paul will explain to us about putting the sinful self aside because it died on the cross with Jesus and how to live by the Spirit that God gave us. Doing so will cause us to bear fruit by the Holy Spirit- peace, patience, joy, love, kindness, keeping promises, and self control. We will also read that having Jesus' forgiveness for our sins is not a license to sin freely!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about loving one another because we are all connected by God's Holy Spirit! Let us not become discouraged despite the coldness of the world around us. Jesus told us that people will know we are His followers if we love one another and Paul reminds us of that today. Let us be encouraged to live by the Spirit of God's Love that gives us everlasting life and love the way that God loves!

Today's we will be reading the Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapters 2-4.

Today Paul will give us a very in depth understanding of how we are not set free by the Law, but rather held in servitude to it, vs being completely set free from our sins by believing in Jesus. Paul explains to us today that now we are children of God, through the Promise God made!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of understanding the freedom we have from our sins through believing in Jesus and being able to explain this freedom to our Jewish brothers and sisters who are still living in their sin trying to follow the Law, which no one can follow 100%, except for Jesus!

Today's we will be reading the Book of Acts Chapters 15 and Galatians Chapter 1.

Today we will read about some Jewish believers arriving in Antioch from Jerusalem to tell the Gentile believers that they needed to become circumcised in order to be saved from their sins. In response, Paul and Barnabas travelled to Jerusalem and had a meeting with Peter and the other leaders, where they came to the understanding that God does not require circumcision or the following of all the Torah laws in order to save us from our sins. Peter explained today that NO ONE was able to follow all of the laws and the Law did not save anyone from their sins, but Jesus' atonement for our sins DOES, and so our FAITH in Jesus in what saves us, not the obedience (or lack thereof).

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about JLesus summing up the Law for us: Love the Lord our God with all our hearts, all of our mind, all of our strength, and all of our soul, and love others as we love ourselves. THESE commands sum up the Law of the Torah that we are to obey. If we are doing anything that does is not loving, then we are disobeying God's rule for us. Period. When asked by one of the Jewish leaders, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus answered him by telling the story of the Good Samaritan and then returned the question to the leader: "Who was the man's neighbor?" The leader replied, "The one who showed him mercy." Jesus replied, "Go and do likewise." God has told us that He desires mercy, not sacrifice. We, too, are to be loving and merciful to others the way that Jesus and God are to us.

I will also share some testimony as to how God used this daily application in my life just yesterday with a coworker, who being filled with God's Holy Spirit and joy, sought me out yesterday to tell me that He was reading the Bible and was loving it! Praise God! God is working in that man's heart and used me to help spread the word about reading God's Word! Thank you, God, for drawing that young man to you and allowing me to see the good work you have begun in him, as well as being able to give witness about that good work that I see!

Today's we will be reading the Book of Acts Chapters 14.

Today we will read about Paul and Barnabas continuing the job that God gave them to do. We will read about them experiencing difficulties with the Jewish people who turn people away from believing the truth, both Jewish people and Gentiles. Paul reminds us today that we will suffer difficulties for bringing the Good News to people. At the end of their mission Paul and Barnabas return to Antioch, "where they were entrusted to God for the work that was now complete" and praised God, telling the believers there about God's success in leading both Jewish people and Gentiles to follow Jesus.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about entrusting God to care for us as God sends us out to do the work He has prepared for us to do as well as remembering not to take personally any perceived failure or success in that work, but to give God the glory. We may be seed planters, we may be feeding God's lambs or His sheep, but whatever it is we are doing that God gives us to do, we are NOT failures (and neither is God!) We cannot always see someone come to be a follower and we want to remember that it does not mean that we were unsuccessful. It means we were potentially used for planting seeds about The Word. It is wonderful to see someone come to saving faith in Jesus, but the lack of seeing this happen does not mean that we (or God!) have failed! Let us be encouraged to thank God for the good work that He has given us to do and ENTRUST both ourselves and the people He brings us to, to God, as Paul and Barnabas showed us today.

Today's we will be reading the Book of Acts Chapters 13.

Today we will read about the Saul (now becoming known as Paul) and Barnabas being told to go do what God had chosen them to do, and they did it, resulting in joyous growth of believers in Jesus among both Jewish people and Gentiles!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of US obeying God's call to do whatever it is that God has called for us to do, starting with asking God what name He has given us, which will help us figure out what direction God is calling us and what exactly we are supposed to do with our daily lives for God.

Today's we will be reading the Book of Acts Chapters 11 and 12.

Today we will read about the Jewish believers giving Peter a hard time for sharing the Good News with someone who wasn't Jewish. We will read about Peter explaining how God desired for this to happen and then the Jewish believers, seeing how it was God's Will, rejoiced. We will then read about God saving Peter from jail by sending an angel to the jail to free Peter.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about God's perfect timing, the importance of praying for God's Will rather than our own and obedience to God's will. We will talk about how Peter obeyed both when God told him to go to Cornelius' house as well as when the angel gave Peter directions after waking him from a sound sleep. Waiting for God's deliverance can be hard, but as we see today and in other examples from the Bible, God often delivers at "the eleventh hour" so that we know that it is HIM who has delivered us, not anyone else. We need to keep believing in God to know His divine plan for us and the timing for everything, even though we may not understand it or be able to see it. We need to keep trusting in God's goodness even when it can look like He did not answer our prayers, as in the case of James being killed by Herod but saving Peter. Eventually everyone transitions from the physical body to eternal life in our spiritual body and no one knows the day or time but God. But we can remember that we have seen over and over again that God's timing is always perfect and He always has plans working to further His kingdom, even if we cannot see those plans in the present. Once again I will remind us of Ruth and Boaz marrying, which would not have been possible if Naomi had not lost both her sons, one of which was Ruth's husband, as well as her own husband, causing her to return to Israel without any male heir. God ALWAYS has good plans going on. We just need to have faith and trust in Him.

Today's we will be reading the Book of Acts Chapter 10.

Today we will read about Peter given a vision of animals and told not to call "unclean or unholy" what God has made clean. God then told Peter to go with the mean who were looking for him, because God had sent them to Peter. Peter was brought to a man who was a Gentile believer in God, Cornelius. While Peter was telling Cornelius about Jesus the Holy Spirit came upon Cornelius and all those who were present, much to the surprise of Peter and the other Jewish believers with Peter.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God's love is not exclusive to anyone. God loves ALL people and He wants EVERYONE to come to Him! We, too, should be careful not to show favoritism to people who are believers vs nonbelievers or even among believers! God welcomes everyone who looks up to Him and does what is right! Thank you, God, for your great love that is for EVERYONE!

Today's we will be reading the Book of Acts Chapter 9.

Today's reading will show Jesus revealing Himself to Saul, telling Saul (and us!) that Saul was actually persecuting JESUS when Saul thought he was persecuting the followers! We will see Ananias called by Jesus to heal Saul's eyes and give him the Holy Spirit, but he was resistant to do so because of Saul's reputation.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God takes who we are and shows us how to be ourselves the right way in order to build the Kingdom of God! Jesus took Saul's zeal for God and showed him how to be zealous for Jesus! In our own lives Jesus does this with us all the time! God takes EXACTLY who we are and shows us how to be ourselves the RIGHT WAY, the way HE designed us to be! So let's be who we are FOR JESUS! We also learned that no matter what we have done we can still be used by Jesus! We are not without purpose! Let us remember this situation when God calls us to witness to people we might have a tendency to feel are "beyond hope." Not even Saul was "beyond hope" or "too sinful."

Today's we will reading the Book of Acts Chapter 8.

In today's reading we will read about times becoming difficult for Jesus' new followers, especially by Saul (who would later be called Paul.) As a result of this difficulty the followers began spreading out to other areas and proclaiming the Good News about the Word, Jesus! We will also see that when Philip went to Samaria to proclaim the Word the people there received the news joyfully, accepting Jesus and being baptized, but did not receive the Holy Spirit until Peter and John came and laid their hands on the people. Then they received God's Holy Spirit. Spoiler alert: It has to do with UNITY among God's people!

God revealed this answer to me from Got Questions.org. I am quoting from here: https://www.gotquestions.org/Acts-8-receive-Holy-Spirit.html

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about WHY God did not send His Holy Spirit upon the Samaritans until Peter and John arrived. The past differences between Samaria and the Jewish church would be overcome by the unity of God's Holy Spirit. In the same way, TODAY'S CHURCHES, with all of our different sects (Lutheran, Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, etc.) we need to remember that WE ARE ONE IN GOD'S SPIRIT and need to "be eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." (Ephesians 4:3)

October 14:

Welcome! Today is the eighth day of the Feast of Tabernacles in 2025, also known as the Feast of Tents or Sukkot. Today is the sabbath day rest that we are to take after the feast is complete.

Before we get started with our daily reading I want to remind us to celebrate The Joy of the Torah day today! This is traditionally the day that Jewish people give thanks for God's Word as well as begin to read the entire Bible for the year! It is a common, communal goal to read the entire Bible every year, following the same schedule together! While I will not be reading the same schedule of the Bible I have a chronological study Bible from the New Living Translation that I am considering beginning reading on January 1 as a "Going Deeper" reading or "Second Helping" compared to the "Big Picture" we read this year with the Day By Day Kid's Bible, written by Karen Henley. Please be encouraged to comment wherever you listen or send me a private message on my website letting me know that you would be interested in following along for next year's more in-depth reading of the entire Bible in one year.

But for today, please join with me and let's give thanks to God for giving us the gift of His Word! John 1:1 tells us that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. THANK YOU GOD FOR THE GIFT OF YOUR PRECIOUS WORD AND THANK YOU JESUS FOR BEING THE WORD! Please help us spread the word about reading YOUR WORD. In Jesus' name we ask this, Amen.

Today's we will reading the Book of Acts Chapters 6-8:2. We will also look at the Book of John Chapter 16:1-4 where Jesus taught the disciples that there would be a day coming when whoever kills them will think he is offering a service to God for doing so.

In today's reading we will read about Stephen, the first martyr for Jesus. The leaders did not like Stephen telling them that they were repeating the same sins of their ancestors and were remaining stubborn, set in their ways, unwilling to accept the changes that God Himself was bringing about.

In our discussion for daily application we will be reminded that Jesus taught us that all who have sinned are slaves to their sin, but that He, the Son, came to set us free from that bondage and that if the Son has set us free, WE ARE FREE INDEED. Let us be sure that if the Holy Spirit is convicting us of disobedience that we do not choose to stay comfortable and stuck in our ways, having hard hearts. Instead, let us listen to and obey the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to transform us by the renewing of our minds. We do not have to stay stuck in our sin! The SON HAS SET US FREE! Let us throw off the yoke of slavery to our sin and accept the freedom that Jesus gives us!

Today's we will reading the Book of Acts Chapter 4:36-37 and all of Chapter 5.

Today we will read more about the community of believers looking out for one another and caring for one another the way that Jesus had taught them by selling their land and giving the money to the disciples so that no believers were in need of anything! We will also read about a particular couple who sold their property and said that they were giving all of the money that they had made from the sale to the disciples for distribution, but really, they had withheld some of the proceeds. The money was theirs to do with as they wished, so Peter asked them why they felt the need to lie to God's Holy Spirit and say that they were donating the full sale value. Before answering the question both the husband and wife died immediately for their sin!

We will also read more about the difficulty that the jealous religious leaders were giving the disciples for witnessing and teaching about Jesus by throwing some of the disciples into jail. The leaders were very surprised the next day to discover that the disciples were not in jail anymore (because an angel had released them and told them to go stand in the temple and teach the people about the New Life they could have have, which they were doing the next day when the leaders were looking for them. Among the leaders Gamaliel stood up and gave some great advice: he told the leaders to leave the disciples alone because they were either acting on their own beliefs or on God's authority and if the disciples were acting on God's authority then the leaders would be found to be working against God and there was nothing they would be able to do to stop the growing number of believers.

How right Gamaliel was! In our discussion for daily application we will remember that Jesus taught us that we will have troubles in this world but we are to take heart because HE HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD! We are on the winning side! There is nothing that can stop us from succeeding or the stop the number of people becoming believers of Jesus! So let's continue boldly witnessing and teaching people about Jesus, making followers for Him all over the world!

Welcome! Today is the sixth day of the Feast of Tabernacles in 2025, also known as the Feast of Tents or Sukkot.

Before we get started with our daily reading I want us to know about a Jewish holiday coming up on 2 days- It's the Joy of the Torah day! Today's reading will cover the Book of Acts Chapters 3 and 4.

Today we will read about some difficulty Peter and John had with the local leaders because they healed a man who was unable to walk since birth and were telling everyone that the healing had been accomplished due to their faith in Jesus and the man's faith in Jesus. In response to being told not to continue witnessing about Jesus, Peter and John asked the religious leaders what they thought God would say in this situation- should Peter and John obey God or the leaders? In the same way we need to remember to follow God's rules rather than man made rules that teach us not to obey God.

We will also read about the community of believers looking out for one another and caring for one another the way that Jesus had taught them.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about remembering how Jesus taught us that we have been freely provided for by God and so we need to also freely share with and be willing to share with others the things we have been given by God so that no one is in need!

Today's reading will include the Book of Acts Chapter 1:1-5, and 12-26.

Today we will read about Peter taking the directions Jesus gave him to heart- to feed His lambs, take care of His sheep, and feed his sheep. We will see Peter stepping up as a leader among the disciples, leading them into understanding of the scriptures about Judas' fulfillment of himself in the Psalms of his betrayal. Peter showed us understanding of the scripture, seeing that another person was to take Judas' place as the replacement 12th apostle, so he led by example by asking God to direct them as to who should be the replacement apostle.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how we, Peter, have been growing this year in our maturity and understanding of God's Word to look to scripture, as he did today, by looking for daily application in our reading to show us how to behave and how NOT to behave, as well as learning to look to God for HIS will in our lives, by making God and Jesus the most important ones in our lives, rather than looking to do our own will. We were encouraged today that once we know God's will to follow through and DO it, rather than doing what we would rather do ourselves.

Today we will read about and discuss the command Jesus gave us to go out and make followers for Him in all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching people to obey everything He has taught us, so that people will be sorry for their sins, be forgiven, and change their ways.

Today we will continue to read about the disbelief, doubt, and lack of understanding the disciples had, despite being told by eye witnesses that Jesus was alive.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Jesus' blessing on those of us who believe that He is alive, although we have not seen Him, and that WE TOO SHALL LIVE BECAUSE HE LIVES!! HALLELUJAH!

Today's reading will cover John Chapter 20:2-18 and Matthew Chapter 28:11-15.

Today we will read about the disbelief and doubt and lack of understanding both the people closest to Jesus and the Jewish leaders had on the third day, the day Jesus rose from the dead.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how we, too, can lack understanding in difficult circumstances and experience doubt, disbelief, and discouragement even though we KNOW that God is in control and knows the plans He has for us- not to hurt us, but plans to prosper us. As much as we want to believe during difficult times it can, indeed, be difficult to stay focused on our faith in God. During these times it is especially important that we remember God's faithfulness to us and be faithful in our trust in Him, even though we cannot see the big picture and don't know what God will do until we can see it. Like Naomi and Ruth returning to Jerusalem without husbands or sons so that Boaz would redeem Naomi's field and marry Ruth, together becoming the ancestors to Jesus, we cannot always see or know what God's plan is for us, but we CAN trust in Him, knowing that God absolutely WILL work good into everything, even though it seems "bad" to us.

Today's reading will comes to us from Matthew Chapters 27:39-54, Mark Chapters 15:29-39, Luke Chapter 22:35-48 and John Chapter 19:25-30.

Today we will read about Jesus' choice not to save himself from death but rather He chose to save US by atoning for our sins so that we would become One with Him, God, and each other. He truly is our Good Shepherd who laid down His life for us. We will also read about the veil being torn in the temple that kept God's Holy and sinless presence separated from our sinfulness in the Most Holy Place in the temple.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about not taking for granted this incredible gifts that Jesus has given us- not just the gift of atonement for our sins, but the gift of access to God, which is a far different relationship with God than what was experienced with the Old Covenant. We are now under God's New Covenant, made with Jesus' atoning blood, so that now we have been given God's Holy Spirit to be in us. We are now One with Jesus and God AND one another! We have truly becoming united, not to mention the gifts of having God's Law written on our hearts and eternal life with God and Jesus! You and I never experienced the Old Covenant. We have only ever known the New Covenant, so we want to be sure that we don't take these incredible gifts for granted. There are still those living under the Old Covenant. We need to share the news with our Jewish brothers and sisters that they, too, can experience God's permanent atonement by accepting Jesus as the Messiah, who paid this price for all of us!

Today's reading will comes to us from Matthew Chapters 27:39-54, Mark Chapters 15:29-39, Luke Chapter 22:35-48 and John Chapter 19:25-30. We will also look at Isaiah 53, Psalm 22:8, Psalm 22:19, and Psalm 69:21. In the Book of Luke, Jesus quotes Hosea Chapter 10:8.

Today we will read about several prophesies being fulfilled throughout the circumstances surrounding Jesus' journey to and sentencing to death on the cross. Amazingly, we will also see Jesus caring more about the forgiveness of those who were hurting him as well as for the emotional wellbeing of the women who were mourning for him as they endured watching the horrific sentencing, than for himself!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk the relevance of the fulfillment of scripture to know that Jesus IS OUR MESSIAH and that as a result of his choice to die for our sins we can experience the forgiveness he requested for those hurting him. Our adversary wants to tell us lies, and tell us that we cannot experience forgiveness for some terrible sin we have committed, but Jesus tells us otherwise. ALL OF OUR SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN and we are washed white as snow by the power of His atoning sacrifice! Tell that father of lies to go away, you don't believe those lies! There is no condemnation for those who accept Jesus' gift of salvation! THIS IS SUCH GOOD NEWS! We need to share with others how we have committed sins and received forgiveness of those sins from God because of Jesus. This is how we are to witness to people! Tell people what Jesus' forgiveness has done for YOU! Let's encourage other people to also be forgiven for THEIR sins by knowing Jesus and accepting the gift of salvation! Burden for sins is real. Let's let people know that the Son of God has set us free from the burden we were carrying! Jesus tells us that if the Son has set us free, then WE ARE FREE, INDEED!! Hallelujah!

Today's reading will comes to us from Matthew Chapters 27:24-38, Mark Chapters 15:15-27, Luke Chapter 22:24-34 and John Chapter 19:1-24 We will also look at Isaiah 53:7.

Today we will read about two more prophesies being fulfilled in Isaiah 53:7 when Jesus was taken to Pilate and Herod for questioning and did not answer, but like a sheep led to the slaughter or being sheared, Jesus was silent; he was oppressed and afflicted. We will also read about how obvious the envy was that the religious leaders had for Jesus. They did not want people following him; they wanted people to follow THEM. We need to make sure that as we point people to Jesus that we are not actually pointing people to follow US, especially in today's social media age of the desire to amass "followers." Jesus is who we need to be pointing people to, not ourselves!

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the statement that Jesus DID make, that His kingdom is not of this world. That He was born to be the king and show the truth to anybody who wants truth and listens to him. Pilate then answered, "What is truth?" Today people are still asking what truth is and claim that truth is in they eyes of the beholder. This is simply not true! Truth is not subjective to our perspective! JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIGHT! NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM. Choose the narrow gate, dear brothers and sisters. CHOOSE THE TRUTH OF JESUS and let others know that HE is the Way, the Truth, and the Light of the World!

Today's reading will comes to us from Matthew Chapters 26:57 - 27:10, Mark Chapters 14:53- 15:1, Luke Chapter 22:54-71 and John Chapter 18:12-27. We will also look at Daniel Chapter 7:12-13, Isaiah Chapter 50:5-6, and Zechariah Chapter 11:12-13.

Today we will read about several prophesies being fulfilled after Jesus was taken into captivity by the guards of the temple and charged with blasphemy. We will even read about how Judas' betrayal fulfilled prophesy! Why is this important?

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about knowing for sure that Jesus is our atoning sacrifice made for our sins, once and for all, as God promised would happen. God will complete the good work that He started, both in Jesus and IN US! God told us ahead of time what He was going to do so that when it happened we WOULD SEE AND BELIEVE, knowing that it was, without any doubt, HIS WILL. We can know with certainty that our sins are forgiven and the reason for this is because of JESUS' atoning death and resurrection! Because He lives, WE TOO, LIVE! Hallelujah!

Today we will read about Jesus going to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He prayed to God three times and each time He asked God if it was possible for the responsibility to pass from Him, but if it was not possible, let God's will be done rather than His own will.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about modeling Jesus' obedience to do as God wanted Him to do rather than what He wanted to do. Jesus taught us what we call The Lord's Prayer, in which Jesus taught us to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Here we see Jesus modeling this obedience, not putting his own desires ahead of God's will. While the disciples were having a hard time staying awake while Jesus prayed Jesus told them that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. The same is true with us. But we can pray for Jesus to strengthen us when we are having difficulty doing God's will rather than our own. We can remember that Jesus has set us free from being slaves to our sin. We do not have to continue in our pattern of sinful behavior. But we can't do it alone. We need to stay in Jesus' love because, as we learned yesterday, no branch can do anything apart from Jesus, the true vine. We do not have the strength or ability to do this on our own. It is only through abiding in Jesus that we will have the ability to be strong in Him and be able to choose God's will in our lives over doing our own will, the same way that Jesus was able to because He remained in God's love.
